Connell C. Hess - Managing Partner and Founder

Connell’s practice focuses on helping businesses solve their legal issues. Throughout his career, Connell has represented clients ranging from some of the largest companies in the world to individuals and families. His work has involved a variety industries, including those from the energy, healthcare, real estate, and manufacturing sectors. He has gained his experience by working for and also going against the largest and most prestigious law firms in the industry.

Connell studied at the University of Texas School of Law, one of the top law schools in the nation, where he was the submissions editor for The Review of Litigation. During law school, Connell worked as a judicial intern to the Honorable George C. Hanks of the Southern District of Texas. Before law school, Connell graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in finance and participated as a member of the BYU football team for four years. 

Connell and his wife, Skye, are the proud parents of five children. When not practicing law or helping with kids at home, Connell can be found doing one of his many hobbies which include wakeboarding, golfing, crossfit, basketball, football, smoking brisket, or coaching one of his kid’s sports teams. 

Selected Relevant Experience:

  • Represented defendant as member of Texas trial teams in federal and state court actions stemming from MDL 2179 in connection with the Deepwater Horizon incident.
  • Represented restaurant sellers in four day jury trial in Montgomery County District Court regarding breach of Commercial Property Contract and Asset Purchase Agreement.
  • Representation of prominent restaurant and bar in dispute with Landlord regarding alleged breach of lease agreement.
  • Representation of numerous buyers and seller in relation to the negotiation, execution and closing of Asset Purchase and Membership Interest Agreements
  • Represented oil and gas company against subcontractor’s claims for breach of contract and fraud in state court for cleanup work performed in connection with oil spill.
  • Representation of numerous high level executives in the negotiation, enforcement, and litigation regarding non-compete and other employment issues.
  • Represented medical  and dental practices in private equity purchase of medical group.
  • Represented valve manufacturer in complex litigation alleging the theft of multimillion dollar trade secrets in federal court.
  • Represented international engineering firm in various litigation and transactional matters nationwide.
  • Representation of  franchisees in purchase, exit and litigation matters including those in the entertainment, food service, animal care other sectors.
  • Representation of CPA in regards to alleged malpractice action filed in Montgomery County.

Mary Jayne Caum - Associate Attorney

From civil litigation and criminal law, to policy advocacy, Mary Jayne has had a myriad of experiences while practicing law. Her legal talents include research, document drafting, and advocacy to name a few. MaryJayne has participated in and led numerous criminal and civil trials and has found success in both. She is currently licensed to practice law in three states, including Texas.

Mary Jayne studied at Mercer University School of law, a highly ranked law school, where she was exposed to various types of practical learning opportunities through fellowships, independent studies, and internships at our nation’s capital. Before law school, Mary Jayne graduated from Shorter University with a bachelor of arts in history and was awarded the honor of top history student in her graduating class.

Outside of the practice of law, Mary Jayne enjoys pursuing her other interests which include crocheting, playing clawhammer banjo, baking, spending time with friends and family, volunteering at her local church, and spoiling her Great Dane, Winston.
